. . . it doesn't matter.
When a medical emergency occurs,
we're here to help.

Mercy's E.D. Team
Mercy emergency physicians and nurses go well beyond being on hand 24
hours a day to treat unexpected illnesses and injuries. Mercy ED doctors
are board certified by the American College
of Emergency Physicians as emergency medicine specialists. Each ED
nurse is trauma certified. Each member of the Emergency Team holds Advanced
Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
Trauma Center
The state of Oregon recognized the high quality of emergency care being
provided at Mercy by awarding the medical center status as a Level III
trauma center. According to the Oregon Health Division's trauma program
manager, "Designation as a Level III trauma center indicates that
Mercy surgeons and emergency room doctors and nurses provide exceptional
care and are very well qualified to stabilize and treat trauma patients."
Expansion
With 31,152 patients in fiscal year 2001-2002, it is fast becoming evident
that Mercy is outgrowing its existing Emergency Department. As a result,
Mercy is gearing up for an expansion project that will add 90,000 square
feet to the hospital. The Emergency Department will virtually double in
size, adding 6,400 square feet to its existing area, offering the ability
to accommodate 47,000 patients per year.
