In Douglas County, doctors depend on area radiologists, the Mercy Imaging Services staff and sophisticated equipment for the state-of-the-art diagnostic assistance they need to treat their patients.
Mercy Imaging Services performs a full range of diagnostic procedures including general X-ray, CT scanning, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), nuclear medicine, stereotactic breast needle biopsy, ultrasound and vascular lab studies.
Imaging services are available inside Mercy Medical Center for inpatients and in the convenient setting of Mercy Outpatient Imaging for non-hospitalized patients.
State-of-the-Art MRI
Mercy Medical Center has acquired the latest in MRI technology from GE Medical Systems. The new wide-open system provides a more patient-friendly scanning environment. The design also has enabled us to expand the clinical use of MRI into areas such as cardiac, neurology, stroke evaluation and angiography.
MRI also is being used as a complement to mammography, which is offered in its most advanced, digital form at Mercy Imaging’s outpatient center at 1813 W.Harvard Ave Ste 411 in Roseburg.
MRI technology is sensitive to detecting new blood vessels that feed tumors. Highlighted by the injection of a special dye, breast tumors "light up" on MRI scans.
The American Cancer Society now recommends annual MRI exams in addition to mammography for patients determined to be at especially high-risk of breast cancer.
Digital Mammography
Digital mammography represented a breakthrough in the advancement of women's healthcare. Digitally enhanced breast images have outstanding clarity and contrast, leading to a quick diagnosis and quality patient care.
The new technology enhances patient care significantly by reducing exam time, minimizing patient anxiety and decreasing exposure.
