...because you are valued as a person,
as well as an employee.
Two signs of an employee in distress are a decrease in his or her
productivity and an increase in disruptive behavior. Even temporary distress
can produce significant negative effects on an employee's performance
and a company's profits.
Employers from all over Douglas County have decided to protect
their investment in employees by subscribing to the Mercy Employee Assistance
Service-WorkLife Program. The EAS-WorkLife Program is a cost-containment
management tool that supervisors use to respond to troubled employees
and maximize staff productivity. However, the service also represents
a direct benefit for employees and members of their household.
For employers, the EAS-WorkLife Program provides consultation on
developing alcohol/drug policies; management approaches to employees experiencing
personal problems that can impact their job performance; and numerous
other services.
For employees, the EAS-WorkLife Program provides professional counseling
to help prevent personal problems from becoming on-the-job performance
problems. Short-term services are available for employees and household
members who are experiencing "emotional health" or "practical"
life problems. Personal problems can easily affect the employee's: quality
of life, health or job performance. Examples of "emotional health"
issues clients seek service for are: depression, anxiety, chemical dependency,
grief-loss, and anger control. Examples of "practical" life
problems the WorkLife Program clients ask for help with are: balancing
the demands of work and their personal lives, child care, elder care,
financial-family budgeting, housing-food assistance, legal, and consumer
complaints.
Mercy Employee Assistance Service-WorkLife Program can be contacted at

Wells. (Click on "Sid Wells" to get an automatic e-mail
